At the heart of 1731 Comp is a late 1960’s FET console compressor rarity. !731 Comp features two 1731 opamp stages in the audio path. One on the input, one at output, offering smooth high’s, mid range bite and that classic full low end. We captured 6 positions of this one knob compressor, attack stays fixed at an ultra fast 0.15ms and release varies as more input is fed. Each position starts at 50ms release and wonders upwards from a few hundred milliseconds to full program dependent release in the final position. True to knob positions on the hardware unit itself. Use the first position from drums, toss the last few positions on for buss duties, vocals, bass. Grab the Mix knob for paralell compression. The Link button allows both channels to share one detector for a more focused compression style. Push this thing and it pushes back.
